About Us

The American Red Cross has a long history in Eastern North Carolina.  The Beaufort County Chapter
of the American Red Cross received it's Charter from the U.S. Congress on August 31,1917.  Since
that time the Chapter has brought shelter, food, clothing, and comfort to thousands in our area during
times of disaster. The name has changed since those first days to reflect the areas now served, but
the hard work and dedication of the volunteers who make the Red Cross a name that is not only
known, but trusted and respected remains the same. It is because of these volunteers and generous
public support that the Greater Pamlico Area Chapter of the American Red Cross
remains strong and committed to serving those in need. Together:

"WE ARE THE AMERICAN RED CROSS"

The Red Cross
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and
provides emotional support to victims of disasters;
supplies nearly half of the nation's blood; teaches
lifesaving skills; provides international
humanitarian aid; and supports military members
and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable
organization — not a government agency — and
depends on volunteers and the generosity of the
American public to perform its mission.
